Fiona Brown

Principal 

Fiona founded The EnergyWise Academy in November 2005 in response to numerous requests from instructors living in Scotland who resented having to continually travel to London for Pilates training courses.

Fiona’s career in fitness spans three decades and has seen her teach fitness classes from her own studio, introduce STEP to Dundee; she established Caledonian  Fitness Personal Training Studio in 1998 and quickly grew her appointments to 35 per week. This company was renamed EnergyWise Health & Fitness and was sold as a going concern in 2009 to allow time to build The EnergyWise Academy.

Lesley Mitchell

Tutor & Assessor 

Lesley Mitchell has been in the fitness industry for more than 20 years and is a qualified Pilates Instructor, AFAA Personal Trainer and Group Exercise Instructor. Lesley is one of our tutors and examiners for practical subjects and currently teaches Pilates, ETM, Personal Training and has a Level 3 Pilates qualification and Ante/Post Natal Award.

Lesley teaches regular classes in Peebles, Galashiels and Edinburgh www.pilatesinpeebles.co.uk

Fiona Fleming

Tutor
Fiona Fleming has a background in contemporary dance and numerous qualifications in health fitness and aqua spanning more than 25 years. She has a Mat Pilates Level 3 Diploma , Ante/Post Natal Award and has a special interest in working with clients with mental illness as she also has qualifications in counselling and working with dementia. Fiona works in the Scottish Borders and teaches regular classes in and around Kelso.

Morag Hammond

Tutor/Assessor

Morag  has a career in the fitness industry which started in 1995 and has a vast range of qualifications including, Mat Pilates, Exercise Referral , BACPR – Cardiac Rehab, Falls Prevention and is also a Sports & Remedial Massage Therapist. This makes her the ideal tutor for our Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral.

With lots of anecdotes and a great sense of humour there is never a dull moment when Morag is in charge.

Dawn Gillies

Tutor / Assessor
Dawn Gillies is an experienced fitness instructor of many years with qualifications in group exercise to music, cheer leading, kick boxing and Level 3 Mat Pilates, Pre & Post Natal, Exercise Referral and Yoga. Dawn currently teaches classes in Perth and is our main tutor for the Diploma in Yoga. Most recently adding Yoga on a Stand Up Paddle board.

Dawn’s main objective in life is to make a difference in peoples’ lives through Health Education, utilizing her skills, experience and passion for people to improve their health, wellbeing and outlook on life. Her cheerful positive attitude makes her a very supportive and inspirational tutor.

All of this whilst in her fourth year studying for her Applied Science Bsc (Hons) with the University of the Highlands and Islands

 

Sarah Macdonald

Tutor & Assessor
Sarah’s interest in health & fitness began when she was a competitive swimmer, fitness class attendee and first aid volunteer… after which she decided to turn her hobbies into a career and applied for a Lifeguard job at Queen Margaret University in 1998 and has been there ever since!  Over the years her role has progressed through Supervisor, Assistant Manager to her present role as Manager. Throughout this time she has also been a swimming teacher, RLSS National Pool Lifeguard course Trainer and Assessor and Fitness Class Instructor.

Megan Macgregor

Tutor

Megan qualified as a Yoga teacher and a Pilates instructor (Mat/Reformer and Studio Pilates) through Tiaki Pilates and Yoga Wellington, New Zealand in 2011 and has completed post-qualification training in pre-natal/post-natal Pilates at Elixir in Sydney Australia plus Yoga for Kids and Families with Rainbow Kids Yoga.

She believes that most of us forget how to listen to our bodies. Instead we inflict on our  bodies what our minds think our bodies need.

As a teacher Megan’s goal is to make her clients stronger but not in an external sense, like the creation of traditional gym hard body sense. They learn to work from the inside and move in ways that they never believed possible.

Cameron Cowie

Tutor 
Cameron has always had a passion for sport and fitness from an early age, partaking in a number of different sports Rugby, football, Golf, Athletics and Running Rat Races.  Rugby being the sport I excelled in and continue to play. With this it was a natural progression to pursue a career in the industry where I have now 8 year of experience from working in Private and commercial facilities. I enjoy making a difference to people’s lives and seeing them make changes and achieving there aims and objectives that’s what gives my job satisfaction.
