Level 3 Award in Designing Exercise Programmes for Older Adults
Do you feel confident teaching older clients?
How do you feel about teaching somebody aged 80 with balance issues? Or a client with stiff joints and decreased mobility who is keen to maintain what they have in terms of range of movement and not simply give up because they have reached a certain age. They also don’t care how many millimetres of body fat they have on their upper arm …ageing gives you a new perspective.
Over the years this has become my favourite age group to teach …by a long shot.
My clients have told me in no uncertain terms that they are not interested in achieving the perfect body. Many have said they are happy to be alive having inevitably suffered the loss of friends and family.
“Old age is a privilege denied to many”
If you’ve been in or around the health and fitness industry for any amount of time, you will know that there are not nearly enough qualified and competent teachers who can offer classes specifically for older clients.
Armed with the right information and research you could make a difference to the lives of many clients who are too nervous to join a regular class …or contact a Personal Trainer.
There are certain physiological conditions which unfortunately are inevitable as we age and we can’t ignore the risk factors. However the benefits of exercise for this specific group far outweigh the risks and the rewards gained from seeing a client grow in confidence under your watchful eye is priceless.
Why not add to your existing skills by attaining this worthwhile qualification and become the ‘Go -To’ instructor for older adults in your area.
This is a particularly rewarding group of people to work with and of course …they make up almost 50% of the population!
If you are a Personal Trainer you can work with your client on a 1:1 basis to help them stay mobile and fit for longer.
