Experienced tutors who still actively teach classes in their specialist subjects

Fiona founded The EnergyWise Academy in November 2005 in response to numerous requests from instructors living in Scotland who resented having to continually travel to London for Pilates training courses.

Fiona’s career in fitness spans three decades and has seen her teach fitness classes from her own studio, introduce STEP to Dundee; she established Caledonian Fitness Personal Training Studio in 1998 and quickly grew her appointments to 35 per week. This company was renamed EnergyWise Health & Fitness and was sold as a going concern in 2009 to allow time to build The EnergyWise Academy.
In the year 2000 she trained with Michael King as a Pilates Instructor and has since worked with Sherri Betz, Rebecca Leone and Doreen Puglisi adding specialist skills in training Pilates for Osteoporosis and Post Mastectomy.

She was invited to join the TEG – Team of Experts when Skills Active were writing the National Occupational Standards for the then new Level 3 Diploma in Mat Pilates. In 2009 Fiona was head hunted by one of the largest Awarding Organisations in the UK to help them develop their own Mat Pilates Diploma along with the Level 3 Personal Trainer Certificate. She also helped develop and deliver their Pilot course for the Level 3 Award in Designing Pre & Post Natal Exercise Programmes.

Each of the tutors in the team have been trained by Fiona to achieve the nationally recognised Award in Education & Training …so you know you’re going to be in safe hands with Tutors who not only know how to pass on their information in a non-patronising fashion …they also continue to work with the general public. We don’t simply read from Power Point Presentations. We teach you to TEACH.

Fiona has in excess of 10,000 face to face tutoring hours alongside at least  a further 10,000 hours teaching the general public. She oversees all the courses delivered by The EnergyWise Academy and has been dubbed “Auntie Fiona” by many of our students in response to hear caring, nurturing supportive attitude.
Her first love was ballet and as a youngster she studied the Margot Fonteyn Classical Ballet Syllabus to Intermediate level before having to give up her dream due to a hereditary condition in her feet which prevented her from dancing En Pointe. Switching to the fitness industry as an adult allowed her to maintain her love of movement, whilst focusing on alignment and technique.

Across the decades she has selected a team of incredible tutors to help her build The EnergyWise Academy to its current standing as Scotland’s leading training provider in Pilates, all aspects of Fitness and most recently Yoga.

In her own words:

“My Yoga mat has provided me with a consistently stable base during many challenging times in my life.

Yoga and Pilates have been the foundations of self-awareness, self-confidence for me and have provided me a grounded realisation of my place on earth as well as helping me create two beautiful children.

Being a teacher allows me to help other people in their steps towards building the foundations of their own practice. In turn, the energy that I get from teaching gives me vitality and the desire to continue learning and evolving myself.”

Megan qualified as a Yoga teacher and a Pilates instructor (Mat/Reformer and Studio Pilates) through Tiaki Pilates and Yoga Wellington, New Zealand in 2011 and has completed post-qualification training in pre-natal/post-natal Pilates at Elixir in Sydney Australia plus Yoga for Kids and Families with Rainbow Kids Yoga.
