Meet Our Team
We have a wonderful collective of inspirational tutors who all absolutely love their job. Giving our students expertise from their own experience in this industry to help set them up for success.
Founder and Co-Director
Fiona founded The EnergyWise Academy in November 2005 in response to numerous requests from instructors living in Scotland who resented having to continually travel to London for Pilates training courses.
Fiona’s career in fitness spans three decades and has seen her teach fitness classes from her own studio, introduce STEP to Dundee; she established Caledonian Fitness Personal Training Studio in 1998 and quickly grew her appointments to 35 per week.
In the year 2000 she trained with Michael King as a Pilates Instructor and has since worked with Sherri Betz, Rebecca Leone and Doreen Puglisi adding specialist skills in training Pilates for Osteoporosis and Post Mastectomy.
She was invited to join the TEG – Team of Experts when Skills Active were writing the National Occupational Standards for the then new Level 3 Diploma in Mat Pilates. In 2009 Fiona was head hunted by one of the largest Awarding Organisations in the UK to help them develop their own Mat Pilates Diploma along with the Level 3 Personal Trainer Certificate. She also helped develop and deliver their Pilot course for the Level 3 Award in Designing Pre & Post Natal Exercise Programmes.
Each of the tutors in the team have been trained by Fiona to achieve the nationally recognised Award in Education & Training …so you know you’re going to be in safe hands with Tutors who not only know how to pass on their information in a non-patronising fashion …they also continue to work with the general public. We don’t simply read from Power Point Presentations. We teach you to TEACH.
Fiona has in excess of 10,000 face to face tutoring hours alongside at least a further 10,000 hours teaching the general public. She oversees all the courses delivered by The EnergyWise Academy and has been dubbed “Auntie Fiona” by many of our students in response to hear caring, nurturing supportive attitude.
Most recently, Fiona has been developing the business side of The EnergyWise Academy and is currently running courses to help you succeed in building your successful, long-lasting business.
Principal and Co-Director
Having joined The EnergyWise Academy in 2009 as a Modern Apprentice, Becky quickly started gaining experience in different styles of movement and exercise, as well as the behind the scenes running of The EnergyWise Academy.
With an initial background of floor-based Exercise to Music Classes, Becky continued her training and added Pilates into the mix. Seeing the difference in clients’ movement and functional ability, this slower style of exercise became Becky’s passion. Over the years she has added many other fitness and movement qualifications to her repertoire, including Gym-Based Exercise, Pregnancy & Post Natal Exercise, further Pelvic Floor training and Yoga to name but a few.
Becky has used these skills and business experience gained from working with Fiona to set up a busy and sucessful studio of her own in Midlothian.
With a team of 6 instructors and around 20 classes a week (and counting!) Becky has brought her business to the point where she has been able to take a step back this year and focus on building 1-1 sessions with a focus on rehabilliation for functional living through movement therapy and proprioceptive work.
Becky thoroughly enjoys sharing her experience and knowledge of movement with others and is now leading our Nationally Accredited Pilates teacher training and Pregnancy/Post-natal exercise training, as well as building a wealth of CPD courses, both online and face-to-face at The EnergyWise Academy.
In this step forwards, Becky is also overseeing the day-to-day running of The EnergyWise Academy and heading up our exercise and movement training courses & qualifications, whilst Fiona focuses on the business training aspect of EnergyWise Academy.
Becky’s plans are to continue building on The EnergyWise Academy’s success with more exciting CPD, courses and qualifications that inspire our instructors and their clients, as well as brining in some more excellently experienced tutors to join our already knowledgeable team.
